I've always liked this documentary, and it's not that I think Dave is being untruthful here or inaccurate, but I don't think he is grasping the full picture. Sure, it was brutal how he got booted from the bad, but it wasn't because the guys were a-holes, Dave was destructive. Dave also doesn't really respond properly to how Lar's states; it's difficult to comprehend the only thing Dave sees in the past 20 years is rooted in Metallica. This is where I call BS on Dave, sorry, but he had massive. Massive, success with Megadeth. He is a household name, and it's not because of his association with Metallica. It's because he isn't Metallica, and for that people love him. This dude plays all over the world, made a full-time career as a pioneer metal head, an iconic representation of an entire genre of music, sold millions of records, played in front of thousands of adoring fans who sing not just his lyrics, but his guitar riffs. Please, Dave, just stop. Don't ever tell me you are upset about the last 20 years 🤣

In my upmost honest opinion your situation was very very simikar to Def Leppard and Pete Wilkis in terms of addiction and timing..Metallica at the time was on a mission and orobably didnt feel like they could or wanted to skow down. They wanted to take advantage of the monentum caltured via Kill Um All and Run With It. Maybe thats why there was no second chance and no warning. The decision was based on several factors and tgey inviously didnt think there was time to skow down and examine them Live Ya Dave❤

You can really tell how traumatic getting fired from Metallica the way he did was to Dave. While curious how things would have worked out with Metallica had Mustaine stayed in the group, I think taking away all the great music from both Megadeth and Metallica that resulted in that firing would be catastrophic to the history & eventual present of rock\metal. Sorry Dave, your firing from Metallica in 1983 has to remain a fixed point in the timeline that must NEVER be changed lol

The best thing Metallica did was booting Dave. For Dave. Guy created a cult metal band on par and in my opinion better than Metallica. Megadeth were really fucking metal, for so long. Metallica went poser so sooner after their garage days for me. Dave is true 80's thrash, and if Metallica hadn't booted him he'd have been wasted as a lead guitar there.

Watching dave talking to Lars is cringe. But I do wish James was there with Lars to have the talk. I think Dave always wanted the talk and closure he never got. But he’s been holding on to a dream that will never happen. It’s not about the money or success. It’s his dream of making it like he has but with the friends he started with. When you go through drinking or drug issues you tend to hold on to a period of time in your life that you think was important. To Dave getting kicked out of Metallica Watching them become huge is important time Period of his life. It’s the turning point of what could have been and what actual is. Living with that sucks but he didn’t just lay down and die. He created Megadeth. No matter of Megadeth was way bigger than Metallica Dave would never feel closure. He wants that with in his mind his friends. But they haven’t been friends for over 20 years at that point.

Megadeth and Metallica are both legendary bands but I can’t help but imagine how much better Metallica would’ve been with Dave. Truly a sad missed opportunity.

This will always be my favorite Megadeth lineup. Don’t get me wrong, I love the line ups and albums afterwards, but the first two Megadeth albums with the two Dave’s, Chris, and Gar, are some of my favorite records ever. The sound was great and Gar and Chris brought something really special to the table. Of course rest in peace Gar, great drummer. One of my all time favorites.

The worst part of this video was not seeing Dave doing some martial arts on Lars.

They both had very valid points. It doesn't make sense that Dave is still hung up about Metallica when he has Megadeth. Also, Dave was let go with "no warning, no second chance." Meanwhile, ironically the reason James was absent was because he was in rehab. They wouldn't allow Dave the opportunity to better himself though.
